Arcata, CA- Sonoma State needed a win to qualify for the final playoff spot in the upcoming CCAA Tournament and win they did in thrilling fashion. It took all five sets and then some as the Seawolves won 3-2 over Humboldt State. The final set went down to the wire with SSU on top 16-14.
Sonoma State came out flat losing the first game 25-15 but then rallied to win the next 2. The Jacks won the 4th set 25-20 to set up the final winner take all 5th set.
The Seawolves came up big hitting .391 in game 5. Freshman
Jenn Trephan was impressive again running the offense for Head Coach
Bear Grassl and the result is a spot in the CCAA Playoff Tourney.
"This was our best match for our middle attackers in several weeks," exclaimed Coach Grassl after the win. "Jenn was agressive all night running the offense and we got huge contributions from
Baelei Wiesner and
Angel Gamboa at the service line and on defense."
Trephan ended the night with 38 assists and 12 digs, while
Bailey Palestini had 13 kills for the playoff bound Seawolves
