Comeback Falls Short for Seawolves

Rohnert Park, Ca -  SSU got off to a slow start vs Western Oregon in GNAC/CCAA Challenge on Friday.  Trailing by double digits most of the night, the Seawolves made a comeback in the fourth Quarter only to come up short  60-52. 

Foul trouble plagued Sonoma State early on and Western Oregon took advantage with a 22-10 first quarter lead.  Amber Winkler led the Wolves with 12 points, one of 3 WO players to reach double figures.

Trailing by 16 after 3 Sonoma Sate cut the lead to 9 early in the fourth.  A few chances to get closer went by the wayside as SSU missed several layups down the stretch and just couldn't get overt the hump.

Kylie Kiech led all scorers with 15 points, hitting 4 of 10 from the field and 6 of 6 from the line. Jessica Solis chipped 12 and added 4 rebounds on the night.

Chico State defeated Concordia Portland in the tourney opener.

The teams will be back on the court Saturday as Sonoma State will take on Concordia and Chico State faces Western Oregon
