Hayward, Calif. – Sonoma State dropped Saturday evenings CCAA matchup on the road against Cal State East Bay 59-49.
The Seawolves are now 10-11 overall and 8-10 in the CCAA.
Sonoma States offense was led by a pair of double-digit performances by
Sophie Northern (14-points) and
Kylie Kiech (13-points). Northern, shot 2-for-2 from the line and 5-for-7 from the field (2-for-4 from the arc) and Kiech went 2-for-5 from the charity line and 5-for-12 from the field (making 1-of-4 3-pointers).
Ugochi Anudokem downed 9-points and registered 12 rebounds (3-offensive; 9-defensive) for the Seawolves.
The Seawolves held East Bay to a five-point first quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 20-5 in the opening 10-minutes. Sonoma State shot 40 percent (10-for-25) from the field, 80 percent (8-for-10) from the arc and 44.4 percent (4-for-9) from the line and held East Bay to 35.3 percent (12-for-34) from the field, 16.7 percent (2-for-12) from the arc and 0 percent from the charity stripe (0-for-1) in the first half for a 32-26 lead at halftime.
The Pioneers came back 39-38, six minutes into the third quarter with a three-pointer. East Bay completed its comeback in the fourth quarter outscoring the Seawolves 18-9 for a 59-49 final.
