Seawolves Fall to No. 2 Triton’s

Rohnert Park, Calif. -- The Seawolves hosted undefeated No. 2 UC San Diego Thursday night in the Wolves' Den, holding the Tritons to a five-point deficit in the opening quarter 16-11. After five lead changes, the Seawolves fell 79-61 and are now 10-12 overall and 8-11 in the CCAA. 
 
Sonoma State held the Tritons to an eight-point differential in the first half shooting 39.4 percent (13-for-33) from the field, 38.5 percent (5-for-13) from the arc and 100 percent from the charity stripe (4-for-4). While holding UC San Diego to 48.4 percent (15-for-31) from the field, 44.4 percent (4-for-9) from the arc and 75 percent (9-for-12) from the line in the first half for a 43-35 score at halftime.
 
The Seawolves offense was led by freshman Zane Sheckherd's 17 baskets (5-for-8 three-pointers and 2-for-2 from the line) and two other double-digit performances by Ugochi Anudokem and Sophie Northern. Andokem put up 12-points (6-for-9 from the field) and 11-rebounds. Northern featured a dozen herself shooting 1-for-1 from the line and 5-for-1 from the field (1-for-5 from the arc)
 
The Tritons came back from halftime claiming the half's opening four baskets to gain a 17-point hold on the Seawolves. Despite Sonoma State tieing the game three times in the first half, the Tritons gained a substantial advantage, outscoring the Seawolves 36-26 in the game's final twenty minutes.  
 
UC San Diego secured its fourth straight CCAA regular season title with the 79-61 win over the Seawolves.
