Seawolves Split Home Opener

Rohnert Park, Calif. – After falling to the Wildcats in 8-0 (five innings) in the first game, the Seawolves outscored Chico State 6-5 in game two.
 
Sonoma State is now 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the CCAA. 
 
Chico State 8, Sonoma State 0
A high scoring first inning put the Seawolves in a 5-0 hole. Brielle Vidmar got the ball in game one she faced 16 batters in two innings striking out five Wildcats. Camille Rodriguez took to the circle in the top of the third; she faced 11 hitters striking out four.
 
Following a scoreless second inning, Chico State crossed the plate twice in the third and once again in the fourth for an NCAA run-rule of eight after five.

Game two saw a strong start in favor of the Seawolves. Sonoma's leadoff batters Alee Balanon and Julie Davis found their way on, Balanon singles to center while Davis reached on a passed drop third strike. Cameron Kirtlan traded places with Balanon with a double to right field. Jordann White brought in Davis for a 2-0 lead over the Wildcats.
 
Teresa Danenberg held the Wildcats off the bases striking two out in the third, giving the Seawolves a little momentum in the third. White who went 3-for-4 at the plate in game two scored Kirtlan with a double the right field to increase the Seawolves lead 3-0. With bases loaded Courtney Jack grounded out to short, scoring White. 
 
In the fourth White cleared the bases scoring Davis and Balanon with a single up the middle extending the score 6-0.
 
The Seawolves offense went cold, as the Wildcats came within one run of tying the game 6-5 in the sixth scoring three and adding two more in the seventh.
