Seawolves Edged by Cougars

Rohnert Park, Calif. – Sonoma State recognized its two graduating seniors Taylor Todd and Brooke Santander before its game against Cal State San Marcos. The chances for a victory were available but they couldn't be converted. Seawolves began well but Cougars responded as they posted a 68-54 victory in Sonoma's final home game.

During the first quarter Sonoma State held Cal State San Marcos to under 40 percent from the field but, the Cougars responded by nailing at least 50 percent of their attempts during each of the final three periods to aid victory.

While Sonoma State committed two lead changes in the first quarter, they were just a step behind most of the game after a solid opening quarter.

After the Seawolves scored the game's first four points, Cal State San Marcos chipped away at their early deficit tying the score twice. Although the Seawolves carried a 9-8 lead into the second the contest's momentum began to shift more drastically in the second period.

The Cougars gained a 24-23 lead over the Seawolves after two quarters.

The final half played out in a similar fashion in the early stages. The final blow of the Sonoma States fourth quarter comeback, outscoring the Cougars 23-21 came to an end when Cal State San Marcos grew a 68-54 lead. The Seawolves could'nt pull within single digits down the stretch.

The Seawolves offense was led by the trio of Ugochi Anudokem, Sophie Northern, and Kylie Kiech. Anudokem recorded a baker's dozen, recorded 10 rebounds, two assists and one block. Northern added 11-points of her own while Kiechnotched 10-points.
