Chico, Calif. –The Seawolves 98-88 win over Chico State boosted their record to 9-18 overall and 7-15 in the CCAA. The 10-point victory was highlighted by Senior
Mason Phillips career-high 26-point performance.
For the third time, this season the Seawolves had five players score double figures. They were led by Phillips (26 pts.),
Isaac Davidson (21 pts.),
Armani Nicolis (13 pts.),
Lewayne Grant (10 pts.), and
Nick Klarman (10 pts.).
A strong defensive effort held Chico to 35.5 percent from the floor (41.7 percent from three-point range). Meanwhile, Sonoma State shot 50 percent (63.6 percent) from the three-point line in the opening half.
After trailing the Wildcats for most of the first half, a layup in the paint by Nicolis tied the game 29-29. Then Phillips with back-to-back 3-pointers gave the Seawolves a 36-34 lead over Chico State.
Sonoma States offense improved in the second half, shooting 66.7 percent (64.3% from the three-point line and 80.8 percent from the free throw line.
