White and Ambriz lift Seawolves to 9-4 Victory over Vikings

Santa Rosa, Calif. – Sonoma States senior Jordann White and sophomore Megan Ambriz both went 3-for-3 at the plate, White recorded four RBIs while teammate Ambriz notched three.
 
Seawolves win streak grows to six, improving 16-9 after defeating Western Washington 9-4, with its third 14-hit game of the season on Wednesday afternoon at Santa Rosa Junior College.
 
Brielle Vidmar tossed a complete game in the circle, striking out two Vikings, holding Western Washington to four runs. 
 
Four hits in the opening inning gave the Seawolves an early four-run lead over the Vikings. Julie Davis singled down the left field line, then advanced to third when Cameron Kirtlan put down a sacrifice bunt, and the Vikings muffed a throw to place the Seawolves on the corners with one down. Sonoma State put on a double steal, in which both Davis and Kirtlan were safe, scoring the Seawolves first run, and placing Kirtlan in scoring position. White doubled to left center to trade places with Kirtlan (2-0). Cassidy Romano singled up the middle to advance White and put Seawolves on the corners for the second time in the inning. White scores off a sacrifice fly by Nicole Renner (3-0) and Ambriz singled to right field to bring Romano home (4-0).
 
The Seawolves held the Vikings to one run on two hits in the second, leaving a runner on. 
 
Sonoma States strong offense continued in the second inning, as Balanon and Davis both singled and White knocked a base-clearing three-run homer over right field 7-0.
 
Western Washington added a pair of runs in the third, drawing a leadoff walk the Vikings Emily Benson knocked a two-run home run over center field.
 
A three-up-three-down top of the fourth gave the Seawolves a little momentum, in which they added a run when White scored off a sacrifice fly ball to right field (8-3). 
 
In the fifth Benson knocked her second home run of the game to cut the Seawolves lead in half 8-4.
 
White scored the Seawolves ninth run of the game when Ambriz singled to center field for a final score of 9-4.
