Seawolves Claim a Pair

Rohnert Park, Calif. – No. 22 Sonoma State put 18 hits on the board, claiming its opening doubleheader against Cal State San Bernardino. In the circle, Brielle Vidmar picked up her 16th win in game one, and Camille Rodriguez picked up her 6th. 
 
Sonoma State is now 27-12 overall and 17-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
 
Game One: Sonoma State 5, Cal State San Bernardino 2
Four Seawolves registered two hits apiece, Cameron Kirtlan and Jordyn Martinez went 2-for-4 at the plate, each recording one RBI. Freshman Courtney Jack and Martinez both knocked homers. Jacks second of the season and Martinez's' ninth. Martinez is now tied with teammate Jordann White for the most home runs in the CCAA.
 
Sonoma State took an early lead over the Coyotes in the first inning scoring a pair of runs in the bottom. Alee Balanon drew a leadoff walk, and Julie Davis put down a sacrifice bunt to advance her to second. Kirtlan placed a single to right to bring in the Seawolves first run of the game. Kirtlan stole her 23rd base of the season to reach scoring position. Kirtlan then scored off a single by White hit to right field.
 
The Coyotes tied the score in the third after stringing together a couple of hits. 
 
Martinez helped the Seawolves regained its lead in the bottom of the third with a solo shot over center field.
 
Jack hit out a solo homer over left, and Balanon scored off a wild pitch, the two runs in the fourth were enough to secure Sonoma States 5-2 win over the Coyotes. 
 
Game Two: Sonoma State 6, Cal State San Bernardino 2
Rodriguez threw four shutout inning to allow the Seawolves offense to highlight game two.
 
Balanon went 2-for-4 at the plate accounting to half the RBIs, and Jack batted 1.000. 
 
The Seawolves put four runs on the board in the second. With two outs Nicole Renner and Jack both recorded RBI singles, and Balanon doubled to right center to bring them both home. 
 
Romano led off the fourth beating out a single hit to short; she then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jack brought Romano across the plate with an RBI sacrifice bunt. Renner who had drawn a walk and capitalized on a first and third situation advanced to second, Balanon then singled through the right side to score Renner.
 
In the top of the fifth, the Coyotes crossed the plate twice off a base-clearing double to center field, for a final score of 6-2.
