Seawolves Drop Two

Monterey, Calif. – Sonoma State dropped today's doubleheader to Cal State Monterey Bay, game one 9-8 and game two 4-1. The conference series wraps up Sunday with a noon first pitch in Monterey.
 
The Seawolves are now 19-18 overall and 17-15 in the CCAA.
 
Game Two of Series: Cal State East Bay 9, Sonoma State 8
The Otters took hold of a 7-0 lead over the Seawolves in the first three innings.
 
Sonoma State cut the Otters lead to 6-5 with a five-run fifth inning with seven hits. Bryce Vitt singled to left field with one out, Curiel the tripled to center field scoring Vitt(7-1). Another blow to center field brought Curiel across the plate. Next up, James Harwell doubled to center field to score Curiel. Matt Hill continued the Seawolves five consecutive hits with an RBI single to center field. A single to center field place runners on first and third. The Seawolves hit its fourth hit to center field with an RBI single by Brown. Following an Otter pitching change Patrick Tolbert singled to left field to score Zach Guardino (7-5).
 
Following two shut out innings the Seawolves took hold of an 8-7 lead over the Otters. With an RBI double by Vitt and a 2 run triple down the left field line by Joshua Medina.
 
Two hits and a Seawolf error gave the Otters enough to claim a 9-8 win.
 
Game Three of Series: Cal State East Bay 4, Sonoma State 1
The Otters took advantage of two errors, knocking four hits in its four-run first inning. 
 
A pitchers duel on the mound proved five innings of shutout baseball.
 
In its final attempt of a comeback, Hill drew a leadoff walk, and Tolbert scored him with a sacrifice fly ball. A double play ended the Seawolves seventh-inning rally.
