Seawolves Conclude Final Conference Series

Chico, Calif. -- Sonoma State dropped game four of its conference series against Chico State 7-6, the Seawolves are now 21-25 overall and 19-22 in the CCAA, they have a single game scheduled against Holy Names for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
 
The Wildcats got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
 
Sonoma State cut Chico State lead in half when both Matt Hill and Bryce Vitt singled. Then Hill crossed home off a sacrifice fly ball to center field hit by Dan Deely.  
 
The Seawolves defense kept the Wildcats from scoring in the second and third with a three up three down second inning and near similar fashion in the third. 
 
Chico State took advantage of a passed ball in the fourth to extend its lead 3-1.
 
The Seawolves put a new arm on the hill in the fifth; then the Wildcats added its fourth run (4-1) of the game off two hits and a wild pitch.
 
A comeback push in the sixth by the Seawolves knotted the game 4-4. The inning started with a double down the right-field line by Vitt, and a ground out moved him to third. John Abate singled to short to score Vitt (4-2). Hernandez drew a walk and both him and Abate advance on a wild pitch to put two Seawolves in scoring position. Medina singled to left field to score Abate (4-3), then on a failed pickoff by the pitcher Hernandez scored to tie the game 4-4.
 
Chico State regained its lead (6-4) in the seventh with two runs off three hits.
 
Sonoma State rallied a pair of timely hits to tie the score 6-6 in the top of the ninth. Medina led off the comeback inning with a double to right center; then the Seawolves drew two walks to load the bases. Hill stepped up with a two-run single to left field to knot the game.
 
With two outs and a runner on third, the Wildcats knocked a walk-off single to left field to secure the series sweep.
