Seawolves Win Nonconference Home Closer

Rohnert Park, Calif. – Sonoma State snapped a seven-game losing streak in its last home game of the season with a 5-1 win over Holy Names. The Seawolves improve to 22-25 overall on the season entering in last regular season games this weekend at San Francisco State.
 
The Hawks opened the game with a 1-0 lead, scoring a sacrifice fly ball to right field.
 
Conor Ridley held Holy Names to one run, then Andrew Trahan entered the game in the fourth for a three up three downing, recording two of his seven strikeouts in his first inning on the mound. Trahan struck all three batter outs in the fifth and then struck out another two in the sixth. Trahans efforts on the hill kept the Hawks off the base paths.
 
After four scoreless innings and a one run game the Seawolves added three with two down. Kory Brown led off the inning with a double to right field and Dan Deely singled to left, Brown and Deely both advanced on an error by the left fielder who couldn't keep hold of the ball, scoring the Seawolves first run of the game tying the score 1-1. JoshuaMedinasingled up the middle to score Deely and gain a 2-1 lead over the Hawks. Medina then advanced to second on a balk and was broke home off a single hit to right center by Bryce Vitt (3-1).
 
Sonoma State added another pair of run in the eighth with four hits. Deely led off the inning with a single to left field, followed by a double by Jack Pridy that put the Seawolves on second and third. Following a pitching change made by the Hawks Medina singled up the middle to score Deely (4-1). Drew Downing brought in the Seawolves fifth run with a double to left field to score Pridy.
