Seawolves Dropped its Championship Opener

La Jolla, Calif. – Sonoma State found themselves in a 7-0 hole after five innings against the Wildcats of Chico State in game one of the NCAA Division II West Region tournament. 

The programs ninth visit to the NCAA Division II West Region tournament, they enter game two in the elimination bracket where they will play No. 7 Central Washington at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 10 in an elimination game. 

The two nonconference opponents faced each other earlier in the season at the Tournament of Champions in Turlock. In a tight game, the Seawolves came back to win 4-3. The win featured a three-run homer from Cassidy Romano.

Thursday, following a scoreless first inning the Wildcats put up a pair of runs in the second inning, from that point on Chico State added at least one a run an inning to edge the Seawolves. 

Sonoma State recorded two hits on the day, a double to right center by Courtney Jack in the third inning and a single to right field in the fourth by Cameron Kirtlan.
