Fresno, CA - Sonoma State jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning but couldn't stop a furious comeback by Fresno Pacific losing 10-8 on the road.

Jake Hernandez sparked the first inning rally for the Seawolves. SSU also benefited from 2 wild pitches and a bases loaded walk to isaiah Morales. Batting in the leadoff spot, Morales walked twice in the inning and scored a run.

Robert Towne then cruised through a 1-2-3 first, to hold the lead. But Fresno Pacific fought back with 3 runs in the second and 5 in the third to take a 8-5 lead.
Meanwhile the SSU bats went silent, going down in order 3 innings in a row. The Sunbirds added a single run in the 5th.
Finally in the 6th Sonoma State got the offense going again as Dante Paretti singled to right, driving in 2 runs and making it 9-7
Fresno Pacific then pulled off a double steal, in a first and third situation, in the bottom half of the 6th and it was 10-7 heading to the 7th.
SSU got the first two batters on and scored an unearned run on a dropped throw at first as the Sunbirds tried to turn two.
Isaiah Morales then reached on a error by the FP Shortstop.
Nick Simmons tried to score all the way from second on the play but was gunned out at the plate to end the inning.
Sonoma State was unable to get another rally going after that key play
The Seawolves finished the night with 6 hits, 2 by
Jake Hernandez but were plagued by 10 strikeouts. Despite drawing 8 walks. SSU left 8 runs stranded. A bright spot for Coach
John Goelz's team was that SSU pitchers only issued 2 walks.
The same teams square off in a double header in Fresno on Saturday. Coach Goelz is looking for his 1,097th career win, as he continues to pursue the 1,100 threshold .
