BSB- Seawolves Come Up Short in Extra Innings

Rohnert Park, Ca- On a cold, dank and cloudy day Sonoma State played Cal State Dominguez Hills to extra-innings, eventually dropping a one run battle in 11.

The Seawolves fell behind 2-0 in the 3rd but answered with a run in the bottom half- Josh Medina with an RBI single to get SSU on the board.

In the 5th, the Toros added a run but again Sonoma State answered. Small ball was the key to a 3 run rally.  James Harwell laid down a perfect bunt with runners on first and second.  The hurried throw to first went wild and both runners scored.  Harwell ended up at 3rd and later scored on a sac fley by Medina to give SSU the lead 4-3

Starting Pitcher Jake Dent went 6 solid innings and left with the one run lead.

A two out solo homer in the top of the 8th tied it up.  In the 9th with one out Head Coach John Goelz went to the closer Andrew Trahan.  Trahan held it at 4 all into extra innings.

In the bottom of the 10th SSU had a chance to win it but Josh Medina got picked off second base with one out and the threat ended.

The Toros scored the go ahead run via a basehit, sac bunt and another single.  Trahan took the loss despite striking out 3 in 2.2 innings of relief.

The second game of the day was just a close.  Tied 3-3 after 7, the decision was made to suspend the game until Saturday.  That one will be resumed at 1:00, followed by the 3rd game of the series, weather permitting.
