The Seawolves picked up their third win of the season with a big first quarter and were led by four players in double figures.
Sonoma State wasted little time jumping out on the Urban Knights, scoring the game's first nine points in the first three minutes of action. Four of the five SSU starters scored with
Cielo Gonzalez sinking a 3-pointer for the final points of the run. After a basket ART U,
Alli McDonald hit a triple of her own and Gonzalez added another as the lead swelled to 19-5.
Camille Johnson scored the final four points of the quarter as the Seawolves took a 23-8 advantage into the second.
The lead moved to as many as 18 in the second as McDonald added five more points to her total with another 3-pointer and a layup. Johnson once again provided four straight points of her own to take it to halftime with the Seawolves leading 39-22.
The Urban Knights chipped away at the deficit in the third, outscoring SSU 18-11 but could not cut the margin to single digits. Sonoma State weathered the storm and put the game away for good, opening the fourth with a six-point run to seal the win.
Amanda Luckett scored the first four points of the fourth with back-to-back layups.
The Seawolves dominated the glass, grabbing 50 rebounds and scoring 38 points in the paint. SSU shot 38% for the game, including 47% in the first half while their defense kept ART U at 30%.
