ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Sonoma State women's basketball team dropped a CCAA contest on Saturday afternoon as Cal State LA used a big fourth quarter to pull away with a 77-51 victory.  The Seawolves conference record moved to 5-5 with the defeat while their overall record also evened up at 8-8.
 
SSU started slow, scoring just four points in the opening six minutes on baskets by 
Cielo Gonzalez and 
Donnelli Allen.  Meanwhile, Cal State LA came out of the gate shooting well, connecting on a pair of early 3-pointers and leading 14-4.  
Camille Johnson scored next for the Seawolves but the Eagles answered before 
Emerson Herrmann ended the quarter with a layup to make it 17-8. 
 
Cal State LA caught fire from distance again in the second, knocking down three triples to extend their margin to 17 midway through the second quarter.

Camille Johnson got Sonoma State's offense going with back-to-back baskets.  
Taylor Johnson then scored five straight including a 3-pointer and the Seawolves continued chipping away.  With the deficit at 13 in the closing minutes, 
Jayme Blackard sank a pair of free-throws and a layup to get the lead down to single digits at halftime. 
 
Gonzalez quickly scored to start the third but the Eagles got their advantage back to 11 with four straight points.  From there the Seawolves made their biggest push of the game, scoring ten in a row to pull within one.  
Camille Johnson scored six straight points during the run, including a couple of tough baskets in the paint.  Cal State LA ended the third with four straight points and led 48-43 heading into the fourth.
 
The visitors would continue their run, opening the quarter with a 11-4 run and getting their lead back to double digits.  The Eagles outscored SSU 29-8 in the fourth to blow the game open and win 77-51. 
 
Cal State LA was hot from the field all night, shooting 53% overall, including 11 of 15 in the fourth.  The Eagles also made 9 of 17 from long distance.  The Seawolves meanwhile shot 34% from the field and just 1 of 12 from 3-pointer range. 
 
Gonzalez led Sonoma State with 12 points while Blackard added ten points, four assists and four steals.  
Camille Johnson also reached double figures with ten points off the bench. 
 
The Seawolves are back on the road next week with a trip down to Southern California to take on Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.
