Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Seawolves Give #2 Cal State LA All They Can Handle in 0-1 Loss

LOS ANGELES, CALIF.- In what was their hardest test of the 2024 season, SSU Men's Soccer made the trip down to Southern California to take on the number two team in the nation. The Golden Eagles of Cal State Los Angeles came into today's matchup undefeated with six wins and a pair of draws. Regardless, Sonoma came out aggressive and gave their highly ranked opponents all they could handle during the 90 minute matches.

Statistically, the Seawolves played the Golden Eagles for the duration of play. In total Sonoma posted 11 shots to CSULA 10 and committed 12 fouls to their opponents 11. Leading the way for the Seawolves was forward Alejandro Zarate. Zarate has made it a habit of putting plenty of pressure on opposing teams' defensive lines. He led all players with six shots and had a team high two shots on goal as well. It was a total team effort with 14 different players seeing at least 40 minutes of playing time.

Inside the net Jack Chapman battled all game long. While he did concede one goal he remained undeterred. Chapman still made life difficult for the Golden Eagles as he posted five saves with three of them coming in the second half of play. Chapman is now up to 36 saves including three matches with at least five saves.

The Seawolves southern California road trip is in full swing as they now turn their attention to Sunday's showdown with the Toros of Cal State Dominguez Hills. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM as the boys look to get back into the win column!
