DOMINGUEZ HILLS, CALIF.- The CCAA volleyball season is coming down to its final few games and the Seawolves have refused to go quietly into the night as they push for a playoff spot! In a must win, road showdown with the Toros of Dominguez Hills and facing a two to one deficit, the Seawolves rallied in dominant fashion over the final two sets of play to stay firmly in the mix for a playoff spot!
Offensively it was a total team effort as six different players registered at least eight kills on the day. Brooklyn Jackson and Jordyn Waite-Ward would each earn 14 kills with Waite-Ward posting a dominant .619 hitting percentage. On top of earning key points throughout, the Seawolves duo of setters had themselves a day setting up their teammates. Jules Tan and Brynna Slayton each earned 30 assists with Slayton also earning two service aces as well.
Defensively, they stymied the Toros all night with 20 block assists compared to just 10 for Dominguez Hills. While she led her team in kills, Waite-Ward also made sure to get active defensively as she was credited with eight block assists for a new career high! The Seawolves also dominated in terms of total digs with 78 to 64 for the Toros. Meadow Cooper had a team game high 23 with Jackie Winfield and Kaden Young both eclipsing double figures in digs as well.
Overall it was a hardfought match that saw Sonoma rally late to win the fourth set 25-18 before dominating the final frame of play with a resounding 15-4 match clinching performance. The Seawolves would go on to have a statistical edge in kills, aces, blocks, assists and digs en route to a great team performance! They now turn their attention to a critical, road showdown with the Golden Eagles of Cal State LA as they continue to fight for a postseason run!
