ROHNERT PARK, CALIF.- Emotions ran high in The Wolves Den with Sonoma State Men's Basketball taking the court for their final home game of the 2024-2025 season. What followed was an outstanding second half rally and big time performances from some of the team's top players. With the final few games of the season being critical in the teams push for the postseason, rallying on their homecourt for their second straight win should provide the momentum the Seawolves need as they head into the final push!
Paving the way was the veteran duo wing duo of Julian Bryant and James Nobles. Bryant, a staple of the Seawolves rotation for the past three seasons made sure to celebrate his Senior Night in style. He was everywhere for coach Shayewitz on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball. He did an outstanding job of defending across all five positions while only committing a single foul and collecting five rebounds for good measure. Offensively, he poured in 16 points while hitting three threes and shooting 67% from the floor.
James Nobles quietly had a career night as well. He also did a great job of defending the Warriors top perimeter scoring threats while also taking on some responsibility of guarding the post. Yet, Nobles was unstoppable on the other end of the court. He added 25 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists to his resume. He was unguardable at all three levels of the court with a 70% shooting percentage to go along with four made threes and most importantly a game high nine free throw attempts. When attacking downhill not many players can stay in front of Nobles without putting him on the line. He made sure to take advantage by putting the Stanislaus State backcourt players in foul trouble all game long.
The other big story of the night has been the emergence of Jakob Milling as a force for the Seawolves. Over his last two games he is averaging 20 points, 7.5 rebounds and three assists while only committing a single turnover. Milling took the game over with roughly 5:15 remaining in the second half. With Sonoma trailing by a single point, Milling would hit back to back threes while also earning two straight trips to the free throw line that pushed the lead to eight in favor of Sonoma. For the night he finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
In a must win matchup the Seawolves responded despite a first half deficit. The boys now turn their attention to a road matchup with Chico State. Sonoma is starting to find a groove and the team's best players are rising to the challenge. The month of March is right around the corner and as any college basketball fan knows, this is the time of year when magic happens on the hardwood.
