ROHNERT PARK, CALIF- Sonoma State Baseball was back in action this time on their home field of Seawolf Diamond! The Warriors from Jessup University made the trip to Rohnert Park to take on the Seawolves in nine innings of action.
At the plate Evan Merz had a strong showing to ring in the first home game of the 2025 season. Merz was the top bat of the day for Sonoma going two of four at the plate including driving in one of the Seawolves runs. Starting shortstop Ben Saitz also had a solid day at the plate thanks to securing a double, drawing a walk and crossing home plate twice for a pair of runs.
On the mound the duo of Blake Janowicz and Colton Wuelfing handled most of the work with Janowicz securing the start. Each pitcher would chip in four strikeouts and only give up six total hits. Both pitchers also didn't allow a single walk.
Unfortunately, the Warriors late rally would see them pull away from the Seawolves to the tune of a 6-2 final score. Sonoma will not have to wait long for a chance at revenge with the team making the trip up to Jessup tomorrow for a double header against the Warriors!
