Biography

2009: Led the team in goals with 60, the fifth best all-time...is fourth on the all-time list for most goals in a career with 123...needs 64 goals to be SSU’s all-team leader in goals...led the team in goals in 11 of the team’s 32 games...had a season-high five goals in a 13-7 win against Colorado State on 3/15/09...assisted on 16 goals...named to the All-WWPA second-team.

2008:
A big contributor on the offensive side, posting 34 goals in 70 attempts…shot 49% from the field and averaged 1.13 goals per game…collected six goals in the Seawolf Splash Tournament…accumulated 13 steals and handed out 10 assists.

2007: Appeared in 36 games for the Seawolves, including two starts…was fifth on the team in goals with 29…second on the squad with a shooting percentage of .420 (min. 50 attempts)…dished out seven assists and forced 11 steals…also collected two field blocks.

High School: Three-time scholar athlete at Brea Olinda High School…competed in water polo, swimming, and track and field…named freshman of the year in 2003…was MVP in 2004, 2005 and 2006…First Team All League selection her senior year.

Personal: Laurel Strickland is the daughter of Doug and Krista Stricklin…is the youngest of three siblings…a criminal justice major...lists Loyola Marymount as her favorite opponent to play against…her favorite dish is Mexican…Head Coach Coralie Simmons is her favorite athlete…chose Sonoma State for the location and water polo program…her teammates are her biggest athletic influence.
