#21 Nathan Arnott (2019-22)
 
MSOC Nathan Arnott Action


First for the Seawolves, a senior midfielder out of Morgan Hill, #21 Nathan Arnott!! Nathan joined the men’s soccer program back in 2019. After red-shirting and recovering from an injury, Nathan would make his Seawolf debut in 2021 as he played in 9 games. He would have his breakout season this year as Nathan has played in a career high 15 games, made 9 starts, and recorded two goals including a game winner against Cal Poly Humboldt. Nathan is accompanied by his parents Sonia and Stuart Arnott. He will graduate with a degree in Financial Management and plans to spend some time traveling before pursuing a career.

"My time at Sonoma State has flown by thanks to all the great individuals I have met in the meantime. I want to thank the coaching staff for supporting me and allowing me to have success on and off the field. Thank you to all my teammates who I have made so many great memories with. From the early morning weights to all of the great away trips, I wish the best to all of you guys. Most of all I would like to thank my parents who have been by my side during my whole career and supported me through every high and every low" (Arnott).

#29 Nick Battung (2019-22) 
 
MSOC Nick Battung Action


Next is a senior goalkeeper from Simi Valley, #29 Nick Battung! Nick is a four-year member of the men’s soccer program dating back to 2019. Nick would record his first action in a Seawolf uniform earlier this season where he helped combine for a 3-0 shutout over Saint Martin’s. Nick has made his impact at SSU felt on and off the field as he also served as the 2020-21 SAAC President. “ Head coach Marcus Ziemer had this to say about Nick, “Nick is a tremendous great kid. He’s improved so much as a goalkeeper in his years here at Sonoma State. He’s been an incredible teammate and has been involved in student leadership, including serving on and leading the student athlete advisory committee. He’s left a great impact on our program”. Nick is joined by his parents Carmen and Neil and sister Lauren. He will graduate with a BS in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Energy Management and Design as well as a minor in Economics. Nick will look to continue his coaching career and seek a job as an Energy Analyst.

"I'd like to thank my mom,dad, and sister for providing me with love and support throughout my entire life. Thank you Amanda for being my other half. To my friends thank you for becoming my 2nd family… I'm grateful for all my teammates I've had at Sonoma for make an unforgettable college athletics experience" (Battung).

Luis Carillo (2020-22)

Next is a senior goalkeeper from Turlock, #44 Luis Carillo! Luis joined the program in 2021 as a transfer from former PacWest member Notre Dame de Namur. Luis proudly wore the Sonoma State jersey in his two years a part of the team and was a tireless worker and teammate on and off the field. Head coach Marcus Ziemer had this to say, “Luis transferred to us from Notre Dame de Namur and was a great fit with our program. He’s an excellent goalkeeper and always has a positive attitude and great work ethic. Luis was an excellent student as well and will graduate in December with a degree in Kinesiology and a concentration in exercise science”. Luis plans to attend graduate school and pursue a masters degree in efforts to work in the prosthetics and orthotics field. He is accompanied by his best friend Luis Mendez. 

"I am thankful to have spent two years here at Sonoma state. I was fortunate enough to be brought in by the coaches as a transfer and given the opportunity to play here. I am thankful for all the guys here and for all the helpful staff along the way. I enjoyed every moment along the way and am excited to see what life has to offer next" (Carrillo).

#4 Jason Hernandez (2020-22)
 
MSOC Jason Hernandez vs. Cal State LA


Next a senior defender #4, Jason Hernandez. Jason came to Sonoma State as a transfer from San Bernardino Valley College in 2020. After COVID-19, Jason made his Seawolf debut in 2021 where he made an immediate impact, playing in 17 games and acting as a consistent starter in the Seawolves back line. Jason tallied over 1400 minutes played, good for third most on the team and recorded one goal and one assist. This season, Jason has played a similar role, playing in 15 of the team’s 17 total games. Jason is accompanied by his parents, Mario and Alma Hernandez, his brothers Johan and Mario, and cousins Bryan and Josue. He will graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice & Criminology. 

"I am thankful for all the memories I’ve created with my team during my time here at Sonoma state. I would like to thank my family for their constant love and support. I’d also like to thank the coaches for believing in me and for everything they’ve done" (Hernandez).

#8 Bryan Rosales (2018-22)
 
MSOC Bryan Rosales Header Goal


A senior midfielder from Santa Rosa, #8 Bryan Rosales. Bryan came to Sonoma State as a true freshman out of Montgomery HS in 2018. After looking to make an immediate impact in his first year, Bryan would suffer a knee injury to end the rest of his 2018 and 19 seasons. However, Bryan would come back better than ever and play in all 19 games for SSU during the 2021 season. He would also record a goal and two assists in nearly 800 minutes of action. This season, Bryan has played his best soccer, making a career high 15 starts and recording three goals, tied for the team lead. He is accompanied by his family, including his parents Edwin and Roxana. Bryan will graduate with a bachelors in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science and a minor in Spanish. His future plans include traveling and pursuing a career in the sports and health environment as a potential physical therapist.  

"I would like to thank Marcus Zeimer, and Ben Langwith for the opportunity they gave me to play the sport I love the most, for believing in me and making my dream come true to be the first one in my family to attend college. I would like to give a shout out to the trainers for their care, support and patience they've had with me all these years through the major injuries I suffered here at SSU. Also thank you to Yorky, TJ and Ben Zeimer and any other coach that helped me become a better player here at SSU. My best memory I take with me is going to Europe with the team in 2019 and visiting so many beautiful places, stadiums and watching the German Super Cup in the Yellow Wall. Thank you SSU for this journey, it has been an honor to wear this jersey" (Rosales).

#10 Ulysses Vega (2018-22)
 
Uly Vega MSOC Action


A senior midfielder from Elk Grove, #10, Ulysses Vega! Uly joined the Seawolves program all the way back in 2018 and represents one of the longest tenure players on the team today. Uly made his Seawolf debut as a true freshman where he was an integral part off the bench, playing in 16 games and recording over 1,000 minutes of action. In 2019, he would step in as an everyday starter in the midfield, recording a career high 16 starts and over 1300 minutes played. After recovering from an injury in 2021, Uly has returned to solid form this season as he is currently tied for the team lead with 3 goals and 2 assists. Uly is joined by his father Hector, mother Anna, sister Natalie, and his nephew and niece Aubri and Adriel. He will graduate with a degree in Biochemistry and plans on pursuing a postbacc program and then going on to study for the DAT test. 

"I would like to thank my parents for always being my number 1 fans and also biggest critics.  They were always there no matter the circumstances and supported me in anything I put my mind too. I would also like to thank the coaching staff of SSU for giving me an opportunity to showcase myself at this level and believing in me. This program molded me from a teen to a young man. This chapter in my life has ended and I’m excited for the next one to begin" (Vega).

#3 Matt Walleigh (2018-22)
 
MSOC Matt Walleigh Dribbling

A senior defender from Trabuco Canyon, #3 Matt Walleigh. Matt joined the Seawolves program back in 2018 as a redshirt freshman. He would see some playing time in 2019 but jump into the starting lineup in 2021 as he played in all 19 games for the Seawolves and finished with over 1500 minutes played, good for second most on the team. This season, Matt has anchored the center back position once again, starting and playing in all 17 games and recording a career high 1,514 minutes played entering today’s game. Matt is joined by his sister Heather and mother Kate. He will graduate from SSU with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance as Matt will look to continue his soccer career before pursuing a job.

"I would like to thank the program at Sonoma State as well as my friends and family who have pushed me to be the person I am today and believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself. I am thankful for the amazing people I have met and all the amazing memories the program has created. The people I have gotten close with these last few years will be the people who stay in my life forever. Thank you Sonoma State for all the amazing times" (Walleigh).
