North Bay native Brett Kim is back for his 12th season as an assistant coach at Sonoma State in 2017. 

The head coach of the Novato High School baseball team for eight seasons, Kim led his squad to a league championship in 2001.  That season he was named conference coach of the year for his efforts.  Kim also serves as head coach of the Novato Knicks, a semi-pro team that has qualified for the Stan Musial World Series on multiple occasions.

A standout at the College of Marin, Kim attended Sonoma State and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1990.  He also spent time playing with the Lubbock Crickets of the Texas-Louisiana League.  Kim played his high school ball at San Marin High School, where he was an All-State pick in 1988.
