Biography
2007-08: Followed up his incredible sophomore season with an even better junior campaign...named NCAA Division II Player of the Year with Jack Nicklaus Award for second straight year...earned his second straight CCAA Player of the Year and Sonoma State Male Athlete of the Year honors as well...earned First Team All-America and All-West Region again...was the only NCAA Division II golfer on the prestigious Ben Hogan Award Watch List...named to the All-Nicklaus Team...finished in a tie for third at the NCAA Division II Championship at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston...won three tournaments and placed second at three more...never finished lower than tenth at a tournament...was SSU's number one golfer in ten of twelve events...broke course and school records with a 62 in his first event of the fall season, the SMU Invitational...tied course record with a 63 at Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club in the Sonoma State Invitational...had 22 rounds under par and finished 42-under for the season...had 13 rounds under 70...shot 67-62--129 to win SMU Invite...his 68-63-71--202 (14-under) at the Sonoma State Invitational is a school-record for a tournament...in four tournaments he shot under par in every round...named CCAA Golfer of the Week four times (Sept. 24-30, Oct. 15-21, Mar. 24-30, Apr. 14-20) broke school record for round average...average round: 70.39.
2006-07: Had perhaps the best year of any student-athlete in school history...recipient of the Jack Nicklaus Award as the NCAA Division II Player of the Year...also named CCAA Player of the Year...a First Team All-American selection as well as All-West Region and All-CCAA...honored as Sonoma State's Male Athlete of the Year...competed over the summer in the 32nd Annual Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship...ranked among the top collegiate golfers (from all levels) in the nation in the GolfStat Cup rankings...was SSU's top golfer in 11 of 13 tournaments...won individual medalist honors at four tournaments (InterWest Chico, Mauna Lani, So Cal Intercollegiate, NDNU Invitaitonal)...shot a season-low 65, then a school-record at Mauna Lani...finished 2nd at the NCAA West Regionals...was a top ten-finisher in 12 of 13 tournaments...named CCAA Golfer of the Week on four occasions (October 4-10, October 25-31, Feb 28-Mar 6, March 7-13)...shot under 70 on 12 occasions and under 68 four times...shot three consecutive 68s for a then school-record 204 at the Regionals...the highest-round he shot all year was a three-over 75...finished 6th at the CCAA Championships and 20th at the NCAA Championships...average round: 71.3.
2005-06: Had a fantastic freshman season...named All-CCAA...was SSU's top finisher in four tournaments...placed 2nd overall in back-to-back tournaments (Chico State, Mauna Lani)...had three rounds of under 70, including consecutive 68's at the Mauna Lani Intercollegiate...placed in the top ten at four tournaments...placed 13th at the CCAA Championships...average round: 74.2.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Woodinville High School in Woodinville, Washington...was the 2002 Washington State Champion for 14-15 year olds...placed fifth at the 2004 Seattle Amateur Golf Championship (SAGC)...was sixth at the 2003 SAGC and fifth at the 2002 SAGC...was eighth at the 2004 State 4A Boys High School Championship...an All-KingCo selection in 2002, 2003, and 2004.
PERSONAL: Came to Sonoma State because of the nice campus and because it had "better weather than back home"...his goal this season is to win every tournament he competes in...is a fan of the Seattle Seahawks...considers Tiger Woods to be his biggest athletic influence...his career goal is to win tournaments on the PGA Tour...he always marks his ball with quarters from the 1960s...also always carries only one tee in his pocket at any give time...born 10/22/86.
