LA JOLLA, Calif. --
Jason Walter recorded his second-career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds and David Ahern chipped in with a career-high 19 points as the Sonoma State men's basketball team continues to fight to the end, blowing past host UC San Diego, 76-58, on Saturday night at RIMAC Arena in La Jolla.  The Seawolves (6-18, 5-15 CCAA) secured a season sweep of the Tritons (14-10, 10-10 CCAA) as Sonoma wraps up its away portion of the 2013-14 schedule, going 3-9 in such games.

The Seawolves finished the night 24 for 49 (49 percent) from the floor, draining 10 of 21 three-point attempts.  SSU also took care of the ball, turning it over just eight times, a season low.  The contest featured just two ties and two lead changes, the last coming at the 13:43 mark of the first half amidst a 9-0 run fueled by back-to-back Ahern three pointers and another three ball by Walter to turn a three-point deficit (8-5) into a six-point lead (14-8), to which Sonoma State never looked back.  It was an 11-point advantage for SSU at halftime (37-26) and it was never less than double digits for all but 29 seconds in the second half.

Walter connected on five three-pointers while Ahern dropped in four shots from downtown.  James Davis came off the bench to score 10 points in his return from injury.

UC San Diego was held to just 36.5 percent from the floor (19-52) and 36.4 percent from long range (8-22).  James McCann led the Tritons with 20 points and Drew Dyer had 19.  No other UCSD player scored more than seven points.

Sonoma State will return home next weekend to play its final two games of the 2013-14 season, beginning with a Friday night showdown against Cal State Monterey Bay in The Wolves' Den.
