Julie Cochran has the unique distinction of being the first "two-time" member of the Sonoma State University Hall of Fame.  She enters the Hall on her own outstanding athletic and academic merits, as well as for being one of the key members of the 1990 Division II national championship squad.

A four time All-Northern California Athletic Conference pick, Julie earned All-West Region honors three times before earning National Soccer Coaches Association of America first team All-America honors in 1991.  The team captain for the Cossacks as a junior and senior, Julie was voted the team's MVP in 1991 and was named to the Division II championship all-tournament team in both 1990 and 1991.

But Julie's accomplishments at SSU didn't only occur on the playing field, but also in the classroom.  She graduated "with distinction" Cum Laude maintaining a 3.62 grade point average in earning her B.A. degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Pre-Med.  She was named to the Dean's List in 1988, 1990 and 1991 and was voted to the Adidas Academic/Athlete All-America team in 1990 and the third GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America team in 1991.  In 1991, she finished as a finalist for the Honda Broderick Award which goes to the top female student-athlete in the country.

After graduation, Julie continued her playing career while also beginning a career in coaching.  From 1989-1998, Julie was a key member of the Sacramento Storm Semi-Pro Soccer Club helping lead them to national titles in 1994 and 1995.  In 1992, she began her coaching career at Santa Rosa's Ursuline High School before joining former Cossack head coach Peter Reynaud as an assistant at Fresno State University.  She then was named the first head women's soccer coach in the history of Long Beach State as she developed a Division I program into a serious contender for the Big West title.
