Volleyball Loses In Three To No. 7 Coyotes

Freshman Samantha Jagoda led the Seawolves with 11 kills on Saturday

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif-  Freshman Samantha Jagoda came off the bench to provide 11 kills, but Sonoma State was swept for the second straight game, this time by No. 7 Cal State San Bernardino, 30-19, 32-30, 30-20 on Saturday afternoon in San Bernardino.  The Seawolves drop to 9-13, 6-12 with the loss.

The first game of the match was a see-saw affair in the early going with Sonoma up 13-9 on a kill by Rosie Manton. However, the Coyotes tied the match at 14 on Dogonyaro's kill.  Leading 22-19, the Coyotes rattled off the last eight points for the win with Dogonyaro driving home the final two points.

Game two saw the Seawolves on the verge of taking a rare game from the Coyotes. Sonoma State led 27-23 after a Coyote attack error, but the Coyotes clawed their way back into a tie at 28 on a kill by freshman
Ashtin Hall. At 30-30, the Seawolves were charged with a service error and the game ended on a Sonoma attack error.

After being deadlocked at 7-7 early in the third game, the Coyotes went on a 9-2 run for a 16-9 lead on a shared block by Hatch-Kinser and Sharea Drawn. The Seawolves got to within three at 20-17 on a Coyote
error but CSUSB pulled away to lead 28-19 on back to back kills by Hall and closed out the match on a solo block by Rice off an attack by Fletcher.

Sonoma State ends the season at home next weekend against Cal State Dominguez Hills and UC San Diego.
