ARCATA, Calif- Sonoma State stayed perfect in conference play on Wednesday afternoon with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Humboldt State. Down one goal at the half, the Seawolves rallied with three second half goals to improve to 4-3-0, 3-0-0 CCAA. The Lumberjacks fall to 3-2-0, 1-2-0 CCAA.
The 'Jacks struck first when Jon Eseman scored in the 41st minute off an assist by Geoff Houck. Sonoma State would enter the half down, but came out firing on all cylinders in the second.
Brett Cook put the first tally on the board in the 52nd minute when he converted a penalty kick. Just under six minutes later,
Mike Asaro got the eventual game-winner on an assist by
Nathan Medina.
Andrew Bailey put the icing on the cake with a 68th minute goal off double assists by Asaro and
Mike Travis.
Clark Rupp made five saves on his way to his third straight win. HSU led 12-11 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks and Sonoma State held a large advantage in fouls, 20-7.
The Seawolves continue their three-game road trip on Friday when they travel to San Francisco State.
