ROHNERT PARK, Calif- No. 16 Chico State continued their torrid start on Saturday night with a 3-1 (30-25, 30-17, 20-30, 30-28) win over Sonoma State at Acker Gym in Chico. The Wildcats improve to 10-1, 5-1 CCAA while the Seawolves drop to 5-5, 2-4 CCAA.
The Wildcats got out to a two games to none lead before Sonoma State got competitive with a resounding 30-20 win in game three. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough left in the tank for the Seawolves to mount an upset bid as they fell in the fourth, 30-28.
Michelle Fletcher led the Seawolves in kills for the third straight game, driving home 11 on the night.
Lillian Harms, one night removed from her school-record 50 dig performance, finished with a game-high 28 digs. Freshman
Lindsay Brown got the majority of the playing time at setter and ended up with 32 assists.
Whitney Johnson led a quartet of Wildcats in double figures with 15 kills. Erica Brick, the MVP of the Seawolf Spike Tournament in late August, was solid again, posting 52 assists for Chico.
Chico State held a .160 to .090 advantage in hitting percentage; however Sonoma State led 10-4 in blocks.
The Seawolves return home next weekend to take on CCAA leader Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.
