Bailey, Asaro Lead The Way In Seawolf Rout

Andrew Bailey had two goals and an assist to lead the Seawolves
SEASIDE, Calif-  Mike Asaro and Andrew Bailey each scored two goals to lead Sonoma State to a resounding 6-2 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA men's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Seaside.  The win extends SSU's winning streak to five and preserves their perfect conference record (5-0-0).  The Seawolves are 6-3-0 overall.  Cal State Monterey Bay drops to 0-6-0, 0-5-0 CCAA.

The Seawolves struck first in the 20th minute when Bailey found Asaro on a breakaway.  Asaro beat the goalkeeper high and SSU was staked to a 1-0 lead.  Cal State Monterey Bay fought back, however, and scored two quick goals in the span of one minute.  At 34:13, Kyle Satrow scored on an assist by Jesse Letro.  A poor clearance attempt resulted in a Letro goal at 35:10 and the Otters found themselves up 2-1.

The Otters were unable to savor the lead for long as Vince Morrow got his first goal of the year off a nice corner by Stuart Gallant just 1:46 later.

The teams would head into the break tied at two, but SSU came out firing in the second half.  Brett Cook got the first goal of the stanza off a Mike Travis corner in the 48th minute.  Andrew Bailey found the net 45 seconds later on an Eric Larson assist.

In the 54th minute, Mike Asaro made it his first career two-goal game with a Nathan Medina assisted strike.  The onslaught was concluded in the 56th minute when Mike Travis found Andrew Bailey for the Seawolves' season-high sixth goal of the game.

Sonoma State had a 21-12 advantage in shots and was up 7-0 in corner kick opportunities.  The Otters were whistled for two yellow cards and two red cards as well.

The division leading Seawolves will return home on Friday to host Chico State.
