Seawolves Rally to Beat Rams 10-9

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Just hours after squashing a fourth period rally to win 10-9, the Sonoma State women's water polo team found itself rallying to win 10-9 over Colorado State Sunday afternoon in the Slug Fest hosted by UC Santa Cruz finale.

Sonoma State (10-7 overall 3-5 WWPA) trailed the Rams at the end of each period except fpr the one that mattered. The Seawolves scored two goals and held Colorado State scoreless to steal a 10-9 win and extend their winning streak to three in a row.

Roxanna McEwen led the SSU offense with three goals and an assist. Laurel Stricklin followed with two  of her own. Five other Seawolves scred a goal, including Jessica Scott who netted a team-high seven goals on the weekend. Scott leads the Seawolves with 30 goals.

After seeing its four-game winning streak snapped in the Slug Fest opener by CSU Bakersfield, Sonoma State has begun another streak, this one is currently at three consecutive. The Seawolves have won nine of their last 11 matches after starting out 1-5.

Sonoam State is back in action next weekend at the Lancer Invitational hosted by Cal Baptist. However, due to a scheduleing conflict, Sonoma State's matches will be played at Pomona-Pitzer College. Sonoma State squares off against Wheaton College at 9:00 am.
