SAN RAFAEL, Calif- The Sonoma State softball team swept a doubleheader from Dominican on Tuesday by scores of 8-1 and 9-2 in San Rafael.
Megan Ochylski,
Dani Lopez, and Nikki Freiberg all hit home runs as the Seawolves improve to 5-3 on the season.
SSU scored three times in the fourth and four times in the sixth to open up a close game in the opener. Ochylski's two-run jack in the fourth supplied starter
Brittany Williams all the offense she would need. Williams allowed just two hits and struck out six in the complete game victory.
Williams excelled at the plate as well, posting two hits.
Kayla Ledford also had a pair of hits to lead the Seawolves' ten-hit attack.
The Seawolves fell behind 2-1 after one inning in the nightcap, but the deficit didn't last long. SSU tied things in the second on a solo homer by Freiberg, then went ahead for good with a four-run fourth inning.
Britni Geary supplied the big hit with a two-run single. SSU would tack on three more runs for the 9-2 victory.
Shyrle Hawes, who went 3-for-3, was the lone Seawolf with multiple hits. She also scored a pair of runs as did
Dani Lopez and
Nicole Cordova.
Brittany Simao was 1-for-2 with a couple of RBIs.
The Seawolves return to CCAA play on February 22nd when they head south to face Cal State San Bernardino.
