Seawolves Win Opener; Game Two Halted In 7th

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 6-3 in the first game of a CCAA doubleheader on Friday afternoon in Rohnert Park.  Game two was halted in the seventh inning with the Seawolves leading 5-3.  It will be continued on Saturday morning at 11:30 am.

Sonoma State got a clutch, bases loaded double from Nicole Cordova in the sixth inning to turn a 3-3 tie into a 6-3 win.  Dani Lopez also contributed on offense with a long two-run home run to left center in the third inning.

Simone Brandalise went the distance, allowing one earned run and striking out two to pick up her second win of the season.

Cal State Monterey Bay got out to a 3-0 lead in game two thanks to an RBI double by Kristen Rasmussen in the first and RBIs by Homa Shaafi and Jill Artoff in the third.  SSU got a couple runs back in the fifth, then struck for three runs in the top of the seventh.  The big hit being a two-run single off the bat of Shyrle Hawes.

The game will be resumed on Saturday morning with the Seawolves leading 5-3 with a runner on second and two outs.
