Seawolves Speared By Tritons In Softball Twinbill

LA JOLLA, Calif-  The Sonoma State softball team had problems on offense again on Saturday as they were swept in a CCAA doubleheader by identical 5-1 scores by UC San Diego.  The Seawolves drop to 8-13, 1-9 CCAA.  The 19th-ranked Tritons improve to 19-7, 9-5 CCAA.

In game one, the Tritons scored single runs in the first, second, and third innings to take a 3-0 lead.  They busted it open with two more runs in the fifth to make it 5-0.  The Seawolves could manage just five hits against UCSD starter Melissa Ward, two of them by Dani Lopez.

The Seawolves had plenty of chances in game two as they out hit the Tritons 10-5.  Unfortunately, most of those baserunners were left stranded as the Seawolves left 12 on base.  Dani Lopez, Nikki Freiberg, and Nicole Cordova each had two hits in the game two loss.

The Seawolves will face Cal State Monterey Bay and Chico State next weekend in non-conference action at Chico.
