LOS ANGELES, Calif- For the second time in two weeks, the Sonoma State women's tennis team lost to Cal State L.A. by a 5-4 score. The loss is the fourth in a row for the Seawolves as they fall to 4-9, 1-5 CCAA. The Golden Eagles, ranked 35th in the nation and 6th in the west region at 8-2, 4-2 CCAA, win their seventh consecutive match.
Unlike the match in Rohnert Park, where the Seawolves led heading into singles, the Seawolves were outdone in doubles, 2-1 on Saturday.
SSU needed to win four of the six singles matches to get the comeback win...and they nearly did it. With wins by
Mary Bulich (No. 3),
Dana Carollo (No. 4), and
Haley Hickock (No. 5), the Seawolves got to within one, but the Golden Eagles held on at 1, 2, and 6 for the victory.
Up next for the Seawolves is a CCAA match against Cal Poly Pomona on April 11th in Rohnert Park.
