ROHNERT PARK, Calif- A day after blanking Cal State San Bernardino 9-0, the Sonoma State women's tennis team endured the same beating, falling to UC San Diego, 9-0. The loss drops the Seawolves record to 4-2. The win was the Tritons 52 consecutive CCAA tennis match victory.
In doubles, the Seawolf pair of
Stephanie Luk and
Molly Maguire gave Ina Dan and Taskeen Bains all they could handle, before falling 9-7 at No. 1 doubles. UC San Diego secured the doubles sweep with wins at No. 2 (8-2) and No. 3 (8-5) respectively.
The Tritons continued their dominance in singles, winning every match in straight sets. The closest match for Sonoma was at No. 3 singles, when Anita Athavale downed
Molly Maguire 6-4, 6-2.
Up next for the Seawolves is a match with these same Tritons. First serve in San Diego is set for 2:00 p.m. on Mar. 6.
