ROHNERT PARK, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team took care of business efficiently Tuesday afternoon at the Seawolf Courts, posting a sweep over visiting Dominican, 9-0. The shut out improves the Seawolves record to 7-6 overall, while Dominican drops to 3-6 on the year.
Sonoma took little time in doubles to dispatch the penguins, allowing only two points to be scored. At No. 1,
Haley Hickock and
Dana Carollo teamed to victory over Jessica Miller and Stephanie Lemp, 8-1.
Mary Bulich and
Jessica Harris posted the Seawolves only shutout in doubles, sweeping Anh Troung and Katie Lewis, 8-0.
The Seawolves won five of six singles matches in straight sets, with the lone tie-breaker match coming at the No. 1 slot.
Stephanie Luk needed an extra frame to take care of Miller at No. 1 6-4, 7-6 (7-1). Carollo swept through Lemp in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, while
Geri Richards was 6-1, 6-1 winner at the No. 6 position.
Sonoma will return to the courts this Friday in a CCAA match with Cal State L.A. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. at Seawolf Courts.
