ROHNERT PARK, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team extended their winning streak to two games this Friday afternoon at the Seawolf Courts, easily handling the Golden Eagles, 8-1. Sonoma improves to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the CCAA, while Cal State L.A. drops to 3-6 overall, 2-4 in conference play.
Sonoma breezed by Cal State L.A. in doubles, sweeping all three matches for the commanding 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Dana Carollo and
Haley Hickock posted their second doubles victory as a team at the No. 1 slot, as they downed Bojana Ducanovic and Adriana Espinosa, 8-2. The Seawolves secured the sweep when
Stephanie Hoffmire and
Mary Bulich dispatched the Golden Eagle duo of Crystal Lam and Joyce Librando, 8-2.
In Singles play, Sonoma tallied five victories for their eight win of the year.
Stephanie Luk battled back after being down 5-2 in set No. 2 to defeat Ducanovic (6-2, 7-6 (7-3). At No. 2 singles, Carollo bounced back after falling in the first set to defeat Lana Lamesic (4-6, 7-5, 10-3). The lone victory for Cal State L.A. was won by Espinosa at No. 3 singles.
Sonoma will look to continue their winning streak when they battle San Jose State on Mar. 31.
