SAN JOSE, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team dropped their second match of the year against San Jose State Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Courts, 7-0. With the loss Sonoma falls to 8-7, while the Spartans improve to 10-8 overall.
San Jose State won their fourth straight match, and their second victory over Sonoma State this year. The Spartans posted a 6-3 win over the Seawolves in February at Sonoma.
In Doubles play, San Jose State grabbed two of three matches to secure the doubles point. The clinching match was won by the Spartan duo of Silvana Dukic and Jennifer Williams as they narrowly defeated
Dana Carollo and
Haley Hickock, 9-8. The lone victory for Sonoma was posted by the pairing of
Stephanie Luk and
Molly Maguire at the No. 1 doubles spot.
San Jose State tallied four straight set victories, a three set marathon win, and was victorious when
Stephanie Hoffmire retired from her match. The closest match was at No. 1, where Amber Silverstone outlasted Luk 3-6, 6-2, 10-4.
Next up for the Seawolves is a non-conference match with Montana April, 4th at the Seawolf Courts.
