LA JOLLA, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team dropped their second consecutive conference match to vaunted UC San Diego Friday afternoon, 8-1, at the Northview Tennis Courts. The Tritons improve to 7-2 overall, 6-0 in CCAA action, while the Seawolves fall to 4-3, 2-2 in conference play.
Duplicating last week's effort against Sonoma, The Tritons blitzed through the doubles portion of the match, posting three straight victories for a commanding 3-0 advantage. The tandem of Tessa Tran and Valerie Tang, along with their teammates Anita Athavale and Katie Mulloy each won their respective doubles matches by identical scores of 8-3, at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles slot. Ensuring the doubles sweep for UC San Diego was the team of Ina Dan and Taskeen Bains as they dispatched
Stephanie Luk and
Molly Maguire, 8-4.
UC San Diego grabbed five of six singles matches to capture the 8-1 victory over Sonoma State. Sonoma's lone victory in the match came at No. 6 singles as
Mary Bulich secured her third victory of the year, outlasting the Tritons Pooja Desai (3-6, 7-5, 10-5).
The Seawolves continue their Southern California road trip tomorrow when they square off against Cal State L.A. First serve in Los Angeles is set for 12:00 p.m.
