Women's Tennis Edged By Cal Poly Pomona, 5-4

Dana Carollo won both of her matches in a loss to Cal Poly Pomona
POMONA, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team was unable to secure their second victory over Cal Poly Pomona this year, as the Broncos exacted revenge against the Seawolves Friday afternoon in Southern California with a 5-4 victory. Sonoma falls to an even 9-9 overall and 4-4 in the CCAA, while Cal Poly Pomona improves to 10-8 and 5-3 in league play.

Cal Poly Pomona grabbed the lead early in the match with two victories in doubles. The lone victory for Sonoma State came at the No. 2 slot where Dana Carollo and Haley Hickock teamed for an 8-4 victory over the Broncos Jackie Trendt and Kaitling Wooldridge.

Needing four singles victories to overcome their early deficit, the Seawolves were only able to capture three singles wins. Carollo earned another victory, outlasting Jennifer Chow at No. 2 (6-4, 4-6, 6-4). Freshman Molly Maguire dispatched Wooldridge (6-4, 5-7, 10-8), and Jessica Harris defeated Fallon Blattner in straight sets (7-5, 6-2).

Sonoma will continue their Southern California road trip Saturday when they battle Cal State San Bernardino.
