Jeanette Peck and
Stephanie Hoffmire scored an 8-6 victory in doubles play and Hoffmire picked up another victory at the No. 5 singles position, but visiting Cal Poly Pomona defeated Sonoma State, 6-3, in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts. The loss drops the Seawolves to 8-9 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Broncos rise to 11-5 (4-3 CCAA).
Peck and Hoffmire defeated the duo of Fallon Blattner and Mallory Brady at the No. 3 doubles position, notching the only doubles victory by the Seawolves on the afternoon.
In singles play,
Haley Hickock dispatched Jackie Trendt at the No. 2 singles position after dropping the first set 6-3. Hickock came back with 7-5 and 7-6 victories in the second and third sets. Hoffmire took Michelle Stock to three sets, winning the first (6-2), but dropping the deciding set (3-6). In the third, Hoffmire grabbed the narrow 7-6 (8) win.
Sonoma State will hit the road for two more matches in Hawaii before returning home for the season-ending match against Cal State Stanislaus on Apr. 13. The Seawolves will take on Chaminade on Wednesday and Hawaii-Hilo on Thursday, both starting at 10 a.m.
