LOS ANGELES- Despite winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 match lead, the Sonoma State women's tennis team came up short in singles play, falling to host Cal State L.A., 5-4, on Wednesday at the CSULA Tennis Complex in Los Angeles. The 48th-ranked Seawolves all to 11-8 this season while the Golden Eagles improved to 8-13.

The duos of Dana Carollo/Haley Hickock (8-5) and Stephanie Hoffmire/Brooke McBride (8-3) earned big victories in doubles play before Cal State L.A. began its rally.

McBride and Hoffmire cruised to easy wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, but the Seawolves' top four stuggled against the Golden Eagles top four and CSULA pulled off the upset win over SSU, avenging an earlier 6-3 loss in Rohnert Park earlier this season.

Sonoma State will head south to La Jolla to face 17th-ranked UC San Diego on Thursday (2 p.m.) before returning home to wrap up the Seawolves dual match season, taking on Hawaii Hilo at the SSU Tennis Courts on Saturday.
