SAN JOSE, Calif. --
Stephanie Hoffmire and
Brooke McBride rallied for a nailbiting 8-7 win at the No. 2 doubles position, but the Sonoma State women's tennis team lost the other two doubles matches and was also swept in singles play, as NCAA Division I San Jose State earned a 7-0 win over the Seawolves on Saturday at the Spartan Tennis Complex in San Jose. SSU falls even to 3-3 on the year, as does SJSU.
Hoffmire and McBride pulled off the upset at No. 2 doubles, earning the 8-7 win, but due to NCAA Div. I rules, doubles play is only worth one point towards a team score. Therefore, San Jose State picked up the point in doubles with the wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
Sonoma State will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 25) when it travels to San Francisco to face Academy of Art. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
