Johnson, Ha Score Victories, But Seawolves Lose At CSULA

Lauren Ha earned victories in both singles and doubles action on Sunday in Los Angeles.
LOS ANGELES -- The duo of Sheena Johnson and Lauren Ha earned a dominating 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles and Ha also posted a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles, but 18th-ranked Cal State L.A. flexed its muscles and got wins throughout the rest of its lineup to defeat Sonoma State, 7-2, on Sunday in Los Angeles.  The Seawolves have lost four straight matches, falling to 3-5 this season.  The Golden Eagles improve to 8-3.

Johnson and Ha cruised to the 8-1 win over Tiffany Leung and Mariz Xavier, while the pairing of Brooke McBride and Stephanie Hoffmire almost got the win at No. 2 doubles, but Leora Hemmerich and Jill Sangria pulled out the narrow 9-8 win.

Ha also claimed victory in singles play, knocking off Xavier, 7-5, 6-2.  Krista Cole and Stephanie Hoffmire took their opponents to tiebreaking third sets, but their opponents eventually came through with the victories for the Golden Eagles.

Sonoma State will return home on Friday to host Western New Mexico at the SSU Tennis Courts, starting at 10:00 a.m., the Seawolves' first home match in almost a month.
