PHOENIX, Airz.-- The Sonoma State women's tennis team competed in duel matches against Azuza Pacific and Chaminade during day two of the Grand Canyon Invitational. The Seawolves batted against Azuza Pacific in their first match of the day, but came up short, 5-1, in a match that featured an unfinished game and two games that had no results. In the second match of the day, Sonoma State was able to take out Chaminade, handedly, winning 8-1.

Sara Celma battled against No. 17 Emily Harris and, while the Harris won the first set, 7-5, the game was not able to be finished.
Megan White was featured in the only game to go to a third set, but fell short of a victory in a 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 defeat.
Chloe Jolliff's and
Sheena Johnson's match garnered no result, while
Lauren Shafer and
Lauren Ha were defeated in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-4, respectively.
In doubles competition, Sonoma State went 1-for-3 as Jolliff and Celma were able to complete an upset over the tenth-ranked doubles team in the nation in Ingwaldson and Harris, 8-5. The White/Shafer pairing were unable to win a game against Brejon McCrary and Stephanie Quan, losing 8-0. In the third doubles match, Ha and Johnson were able to take four games agsint Lindsey Teom and Kim Koetterheinrich, but ended up in defeat, 8-4.

Sonoma State 8, Chaminade 1
Sonoma State came back with a vengence in the night cap against Chaminade University, gaining a victory in all six of the singles matches, in straight sets.
Megan White took care of Isel Barba, winning 6-0, 6-0. Chaminade's Kim Takara was overpowered by
Sara Celma in a 6-0, 6-2 route.
The doubles competition was where Chaminade was able to get their lone victory, when Takara and Jan Matsumoto defeated
Lauren Ha and
Sheena Johnson in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (7-4). Celma and
Chloe Jolliff took care of thoer opponents 8-0, while White and
Lauren Shafer were victorious over Katherine Guerrero and Shayla Hosaka, 8-1.
Sonoma State will close out the Grand Canyon Invitational with a match against Western New Mexico tomorrow (Feb. 10). Official start time is to be announced.
