#46 Sonoma State Shuts Out Holy Names At Home On Saturday

Sara Celma improved to 14-2 at No. 1 singles in her first season with Sonoma State this year.

The Sonoma State women's tennis team, which jumped to No. 46 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II poll that was released this week, allowed just eight points to visiting Holy Names in Saturday's 9-0 shut out at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park. 

Also ranked ninth in the west region, the Seawolves, who have won four straight matches -- and seven of their last eight -- improve to 12-6 this season.  The Hawks fall to 1-10.

Chloe Jolliff, Lauren Ha and Lauren Shafer cruised to 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play while Ha and Sheena Johnson blanked their opponents at No. 2 doubles, 8-0.  Sara Celma improved to 14-2 at No. 1 singles this season with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Holy Names' Lamella Belgica and Megan White rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.  The Seawolves won by default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Sonoma State returns to action on Tuesday when it plays host to Cal State Stanislaus.  First serve from the SSU Tennis Courts is set for 12:00 p.m.
