#46 Sonoma State 7, Dominican 2

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- After losing two of three in doubles play, the 46th-ranked Sonoma State women's tennis team won all six singles matches to take a 7-2 victory over Dominican on Saturday at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center in San Rafael.  The Seawolves, who have won nine of their last 11 matches, improve to 14-7 this season; it is the most wins for the program since the 2001 season.  The Penguins fall to 5-9.

Lauren Ha and Sheena Johnson extended their winning streak in doubles to five, recording an 8-2 victory over Francesca Katafias and Emily Prescott at No. 2, but Dominican won 8-6 at No. 1 and 8-2 at No. 3 to take a 2-1 lead.

In singles play, Sara Celma, Chloe Jolliff, Johnson, Ha and Lauren Shafer won in straight sets to help clinch the overall match.  At No. 2 singles, Megan White won 6-4 in the first set, but lost 7-5 in the second and would have to play an extra set to decide the match against Gaby Verspieren.  Verspieren jumped out to 6-2 lead in the 10-point tiebreaker, but White battled back and eventually grabbed a nailbiting 13-11 win to secure SSU's sweep in singles.

Sonoma State will next host No. 19 UC San Diego next Saturday (Apr. 13) at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.  First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
