2012-13 SSU Academic Distinction List
All-Academic Teams: CCAA | WWPA
ROHNERT PARK -- With another successful year in the books for the student-athletes at Sonoma State University, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is proud to announce that 51 Seawolves earned All-Academic honors by their respective conferences for the 2012-13 school year.
In addition, 13 other student-athletes that were not eligible for conference awards and/or compete on a team not affiliated with a conference, earned Academic Distinction by SSU for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. With an overall total of 64 Seawolves earning academic honors, it is an increase from last year's tally of 58.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) placed 46 Seawolves on its All-Academic list and the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) recognized five women's water polo members for academic excellence, three of which were also named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic squad.
In order to earn All-Academic status by the CCAA, student-athletes must have maintained a grade point average of 3.40 or higher over a course load of at least 24 units at their current institution. They also must be a letterwinner on one of the Seawolves' nine intercollegiate athletic teams sponsored by the CCAA. To be eligible for All-Academic status by the WWPA, student-athletes must have carried a 3.00 GPA or higher, played in at least 50 percent of the team's contests and was classified as a full-time student, who completed a minimum of one semester at SSU.
Below are schools in the CCAA, ranked in order of student-athletes named to the CCAA All-Academic Team in 2012-13. A total of 512 student-athletes were named to the CCAA's scholar list, which is an increase from last year when 480 were honored.
